Embracing the Digital Revolution

I am excited to be on the forefront of next great digital revolution — blockchain technology and smart contracts–  that will change business  and the economy. Blockchain technology and smart contracts hold great promise in the ability to add value to those businesses that properly implement the technology. The problem lies in the fact that the regulations are evolving to meet the needs of the needs of the technology; certainty does not exist.

I learned my first programming language, BASIC, while taking a summer session at Phillips Andover, in Andover, Massachusetts. Later, while studying for my MBA at the University of Miami School of Business Administration, I studied user-end interfaces. Since then, I have continued to educate myself in these areas.

While studying for my LL.M. in taxation at Boston University School of Law, I focused my course study on tax planning. In the personal area, I focused on personal planning tools using trusts as estate planning tools. The purpose of estate planning is to guarantee the maximum amount of wealth you created in your lifetime is passed to your intended heirs or beneficiaries.

Business Experience

On the business side, my course study included startup, acquisition costs, sales, and liquidations. Again here, the goal in these transactions is to retain as much of the business wealth with the business as possible. Usually, the business’ intellectual property is one of the business’ most valuable assets. It is important to the business that the team that guides it through the lifecycle understand this and how to maximize its benefits to the business.

In the years since I finished my formal education, I have worked with my clients to create the tools to implement their plans, including business operating agreements, trusts, and wills, to give them peace of mind, knowing that their wishes will be followed.

Most recently, I have owned my own law firm. The bulk of the work that we did in that firm was litigation. Litigation is a destructive area of law and quickly takes its toll on me because I was in each and every one of my client’s fights as if it were my own. Finally, I realized that I could not continue in this area of law.

Once Demi and I saw the possibilities to add value to our clients’ lives through blockchain and smart contracts, we knew this was the area of law we wanted to practice. I am so excited to be on the forefront of an area of law and sector of the economy that will be building a constructive future and add value to society while at the same time maybe even limiting the number of lawsuits filed and the destruction it leaves behind.”

Representing the Millennial Generation

My generation is revolutionizing the economy and business. The world is changing quickly; we are all part of it. I want my contribution as an attorney to be in a way that will leave the world a better, and more equitable, world for all. I am the force behind Stratford Law Group, LLC’s mission to change the way legal services are delivered to the client.

“I earned both my undergrad degree and law degree from the University of Miami, so I am a double graduate of the U — a true Hurricane! My education at University of Miami included learning how to use the tools that are shaping the future of our lives. These tools are certainly part of what is changing the future of business.

“Suddenly, that future is today. Just like you, I use technology in everyday life to improve daily experiences. Implementing that same technology into the legal setting to reach my clients and potential clients means legal services are now delivered with ease. No longer does the client have to put their best suit and spend a day fighting traffic to downtown Fort Lauderdale, wait for an appointed time, meet across a formal mahogany table to have access to lawyers.

Instead, through secure apps and secure portals, the client and I are able to have the same meeting in a less formal atmosphere and with greater ease. These meetings are almost always more productive than the formal, in-office meetings. This is a huge improvement for our clients — it saves them time and money. These meetings are the perfect platform for me to show our clients how I can bring value to their business using the newest in technology.

Actively Involved in Technology Projects

I am actively involved in projects using the technology. These projects will create new and innovative products that bring value, benefit, and certainty to the business economy. These are not projects that are necessarily based in legal theory. By working on these projects I have learned how to be more responsive to the non-legal needs of the client. I am currently exploring the possibilities of seeking a patent on at least one such technology. Check back often — I will post the details in upcoming blogs.

I have worked in a litigation law firm for the last two years — from 2016 through 2018. I have been a staunch advocate for homeowners who were involved in legal disputes with their condominium boards of directors. I have enjoyed many successes in this field. This experience gave me the opportunity to sharpen my legal skills. These skills are legal research, writing, and oral advocacy. As much as I enjoyed litigation, I am excited about focusing my efforts in this new legal area. I can’t wait to work with you to bring value to your business ventures.
